Stephanie Arechiga

Multimedia Strategist & Journalist.

I bring my love for storytelling, policy, and multimedia journalism together to work alongside communities and shake up the systems that impact us. I believe there’s a way to bring community members to the table that directly shape their day-to-day.

I was a first generation college student, first person in my immediate family to attend university, & one of three in my extended family to hold a master’s degree. I owe a lot to my Tata, who crossed the boarder and worked hard for our family.

My current project is undertaking The Downtown Chula Vista Association and the PBID to translate local political language and make it accessible to the community so we can collectively practice civil engagement.

Someone recently asked, “What are you getting out of this?”

The thing is, I’ve been working in non-profit, advocacy, social work, and local government for 17 years and I believe I have the experience to make a difference by working alongside people and community. And my Tata didn’t endure the hardships of immigration for me to sit on the sidelines, watching injustice while doing nothing.
